Hi there, my name is Sharon Jong, nice to meet you! I am a very

passionate soul who finds inspiration everywhere! My life is & has been a

beautiful chaotic ride filled with perseverence, joy & creativity. I currently

live in Edmonton, Alberta with my husband, our 5 children & many pets. My

career history has been in both the fields of art & nursing, but the focus of

my website is my art.

I have been an artist of wares and services for 25+ years. My business

began in my teens to early 20's when I would display my creativity while

hitchiking around western Canada. Over the years my wares & services have

been appreciated at the Winnipeg folk festival, Winnipeg & Edmonton fringe festivals, Kispiox music festival in BC, Edmonton folk festival, North country fair (AB) and ness creek festival (SK). My services have included airbrush tattooing, body painting, mehndi painting, hair wrapping and maker of wares. This included handmade jewelry and accessories for the body & home. Wire, beads, bark, shells, leather and feathers were among my preferred supplies. I

opened up an Etsy shop in 2010 under the name "Butterflycove". I ran it until 2014 when I was pregnant with my 5th child. I was getting turned onto the art of felting with wool at the time & learning the age-old artform fascinated me. Shortly after learning I added various felted treasures, toys, wearables and unique felted home decor to my repetoire of treasures. I also got involved with local art markets such as the Handmade Mafia & various community art markets throughout the city. For the past 6 years I have been a regular Artisan at both the Edmonton and Calgary Waldorf winter faires. In 2013 I started facilitating workshops and I have loved every moment of that. i've taught private classes in my home as well as at the Edmonton Waldorf school (the community in which we raised our children). I volunteered to run a 6 class workshop with the grade 5's, where each child created a canvas complete with a landscape & a sculpted tree that dripped with findings from nature. In the grade 3 class I ran an 8 class workshop where each child created a nativity scene complete with wooden structure, trees, clay animals, stiched dolls and of course a baby in a manger.

I started painting at age 27. Up until that point in my life I was afraid to pick up a paint brush. I feared the permanence of paint. Walking home one day I noticed a piece of wood that someone threw away. It inspired me so much that I carried the wood home and decided to paint it. I painted a brilliant sky with a blazing sun. In the foreground stood the sillhouette of a weeping willow tree. I named it "Hope". Ever since then, painting has been my favorite form of creative expression, and I no longer fear the permanence of paint, instead I celebrate its impermanence.
